Overview

  • The first part of it’s name defines Nag Devta and the second part ‘Tibba’ is a local word for hill or peak. The villagers, come here to offer their prayers to Snake God (Nagdevta) for the protection of their beloved animals. Situated at an altitude of 3048 Meters from the sea level it has a temple on the top, and Bandarpoonch ranges of Great Indian Himalaya which looks most spectacular and alluring. Winters are chilly and summers are pleasant at this place.
  • It takes 2-3 days to complete the trek tarting from Pantwari or Dehradun. The most popular base village is Pantwari, but can be started from multiple others villages including Shrikot, Devalsari and others
  • Trekkers need to reach the base village and it takes approximately 4-5 hours to reach any of the base villages from Dehradun. The trek is open all round the years offering different landscape in different seasons

Facilities

Inclusions:

  • Accommodation: All accommodation on the trek will be on Twin/Triple sharing basis in Hotel/Tents.
  • Trek Leader and Guides: A team of an experienced and certified Trek Leader, as well as a professional guide, will accompany you for the trek.
  • Services of a Professional Trekking Team: A team of an experienced Cook, Camp Staff, Porters/Mules will accompany you for all the arrangements on the trek.
  • Meals: All Meals on the Trek are included. We will serve Vegetarian Indian food on the trek which will be cooked by our high-altitude chefs. It will be a five meal plan including Morning Tea, Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and Dinner. You will be provided with clean mountain water from the streams to drink. Fruits and munchies will be provided during trek at regular interval as and when desired depending on package selected. Item requiring cooking will be only provided at campsite or in lunch boxes
  • Trekking and Safety Equipment: All the camping equipment such as Tents, Sleeping bags, Toilet Tents, Dining Tent, sleeping mat, and other things will be provided by us and we guarantee the quality. Medical kit will be provided by us. Certain safety gears are available on rental.
  • Permits and Forest Camping Charges: Only for Indian Clients, All the applicable trekking permits, Camping Charges, Forest Entry Fee, GST etc will be paid by us (Upto INR 100). Foreigners have to pay these charges if not mentioned.

Games: Ludo, Chess, Jenga, Plot 4, Scrabble, Uno and Cards as per package.

Exclusion

  • Food During Transit: Food during transit is not included in the package. We can recommend a few good options.
  • Flights and Transportation: Flights or other means of transport is not included in the package unless the price is paid in package. Transportation from home to designated pickup point and vice versa is not included in the package. We can arrange a cab for you according to your requirements but you will be liable to pay for the same. Any expenses occurred during the journey are not included in the package cost.
  • Personal Trekking Equipment: Your Rucksack, personal clothing, shoes, trek poles (We provide wooden trekking sticks of good Quality), and other personal trekking gear is not included in this package. You have to bring your own gear according to that weather and difficulty of the trek or you can ask us for renting the gears.
  • Portage of Personal Bags (Offloading): We highly advise you to carry your own burden (your rucksack) but due to any reason if you wish to not carry your rucksack, we can arrange for a porter/mule to carry it. For this service, you will be charged over and above the trek cost. The charges for offloading vary and may cost between INR 400 per day per bag (upto 10 kg) INR 1,000 per day for a mule to carry upto 30 kg of load.
  • Travel Insurance: Travel Insurance is not included in this package. We recommend you to have travel insurance before opting for such adventures. Personal Expenses: Any personal expenses incurred (laundry, Bottled Water, Beverages, snacks, orders tea houses or dhabas, Tips for guides etc) are not included in the package.
  • Emergency Expenses: Any costs arising out of unforeseen circumstances such as accidents, bad weather, landslides, road conditions and any other circumstances beyond our control are not included in the package.
  • Anything not mentioned in Inclusions of the package.

How to Reach

  • Maximum number of vendors are located here, it is four hour drive from Dehradun and option for public transport is available. Three shared taxis come to Pantwari every day. Two of taxis end and Pantwari and on goes further till Banchaura in Uttarkashi. Two taxis to Pantwari start from Tehsil chowk in Dehradun and end at Pantwari. They leave Dehradun at 7:00am sharp and reach Pantwari between 11:00-11:30am.

Buses and shared taxis are easily available for Nainbagh between 5:30am in the morning to 2:00pm in the evening. Government buses leave from Mussoorie bus stand near railway station and private buses leave from near Prince chowk.
  • Timing for government buses for Nainbagh are 5:30am, 6:00am, 8:00am and 12 noon
  • Private buses also start from 5:30 am and available every 30min to hour till 10:00am

  • Weekend trek, so none of us ha to take a leave (later we realised it would have been great if you could have got a day rest after trek)

Nagtibba trek mainly starts from Pantwari, but you can also do it from Auntad (Devalsari) and Shrikot. You can also start from any of these villages and end you trek at any village. Pantari is the most popular starting point and has maximum facilities in terms of operational requirement.

Nagtibba trek starts from INR 1,200 but comes with bare minimum facilities. Average packages offering at INR 1,500 are best as they cover all gears, washroom facilities, camping, guide and others. Price amy add up depending on facilities added up such as bonfire, route selected, type of tent facilites, washroom quality, food options, and multiple other additionals.

Nagtibba trek is 20km long from Pantwari village, buts is 16km long from the nearest motorable roadhead. Please note that road onwards from Pantwari od kuchha road (offroad).

Trekkers generally do 5km uphill trek on day 1 and another 5km uphill trek on day 2 and 10km downhill trek on day2.

  • Weather at Nagtibba depend on the time of the year. It is generally pleasant in summers at Pantwari and base camps, but chilly at the top. During winters it is cold in Pantwari and base camp during day and icy-cold during nights; summit is super cold all the time during the winters

  • View during the Nagtibba trek is depended on the route selected. If we start from Pantwari, we will pass through the local villages and farms. It will offer a green forest view of the neighbouring mountain. Alternatively you can take a slight divergence and go through the river routes offering picturesque view of small mountain river, village Gharad (where local make their flour). One can also take a bath in these streams during summer seasons.

  • Nagtibba peak is approximately ten thousand feet above sea level.

  • Pantwari is approximately 95-100km from Dehradun and it takes 3.5 to 5 hours to reach pantwari from Dehradun depending on mode of transport selected.
  • All mobile networks are operations at the base village of Pantwari. During the trek one can find broken signal from all 4 major service providers.
  • Airtel and Jio work at the base camp near forest entry gate.
  • At the Nagtibba temple few networks are available at different location but connectivity is low.
  • At summit all networks work fine

During the trek most of the operators provide tent facilities for stay but resorts like Goat village are also available, which provide Pucca accommodation

  • Generally it is recommended for people in the age group of 8-65 years. But if you are physically active anybody can try.
  • We generally don’t recommend to hurry in case of small children and elderly grandparents and recommend to do the trek in 3 days 2 nights. It do adds to the cost of the trek, but they and supporting guardians/caretakers will also feel relieved.
  • Yes, kids above 8 years can easily do the trek. Kids lower than 8 years can try but we dont motivate them to push hard, because they also have to do the return journey.
  • We recommend to do it in 3days 2 nights
  • We don’t recommend to do the trek on ponies
  • Mountain water is easily available during the first day of the trek. During day 2 we recommend to carry a water bottle. Water source is available near the Nagtibba temple
  • It is not recommended if you are not a local. If you are planning to do it alone please take proper permissions from the forest department.
  • It depends on the time of trek
    • Tent (please make sure your tent is double layered), sleeping bag, sleeping mat, headlamp or battery operated light source, raincoat, cooking gears, trek pole/stick is always required
    • In winters you need to add good waterproof shoes, spikes for snow as special gears

  • Government clinic is available in Pantwari providing very basic medical facilities. Primary healthcare facility is available in Nainbagh (approximately 17km from pantwari).
  • Few private dispensaries are also available providing basic health chekup and medicine. Ambulance facility is vailabe at Nainbagh PHC
  • Nearest ATM (SBI) is available at Nainbagh. Punjab National bank branch is available at Pantwari.
  • All vendors provide digital payment facility. We recommend all trekkers to carry cash in case of any emergency

As per trek analysts, Nagtibba is beginners trek. However, Day 2 of the trek may be little hectic and may check your endurance. (~15km trek)

Yes, nagtibba can be easily done in two days.

  • No, there is no electricity facility available at base camp. However, vendors have solar panel facility to provide basic lightning facility.
  • It is recommended to carry power banks for charging ones mobile or other electronics devices
  • If you can walk 3km in one hour or 20km in day, you can do Nagtibba trek

No, currently paid parking is not available at Pantwari, however you can park near the offices of the most of the local vendors.

No, currently public toilet facility is not available at Pantwari, but you can avail the toilet facilities of the local restaurants. Alternatively you can book a room at guest houses if you wan private access
